Point 5 - Music Video Director Research (Mark Romanek)

I am going to do my Music Video Director research on Mark Romanek. Romanek has been in the film industry for over ten years, and has worked with many talented musicians. Mark has also directed films on top of Music Videos. The two films 'One Hour Photo' (2002) and 'Never Let Me Go' (2010) were the most successful films which he helped to direct. However, Romanek's directing fortè is very much in the music industry. Romanek's music video style tends to be original and slightly edgy. He has worked with some very well-known artists such as Johnny Cash, Michael and Janet Jackson, Madonna and many more.

Point 4 - Star Image Research (Miley Cyrus)

I am going to do my star image research on Miley Cyrus, who at the age of 21 has already grasped many phases throughout her career. She began her career as an actress in a hit musical TV show 'Hannah Montana' which also starred her hit country music star Father, Billy Ray Cyrus. After six successful years of Hannah Montana, Miley starred in the hit Romance Film 'The Last Song', which featured her song 'When I look at you'. Miley's co-star, Liam Hemsworth fell madly in love with Miley after making this film and they later became engaged. After a few months of engagement, Miley began to change her image almost completely. She cut all her hair off and began her 'Bangerz' tour. Unfortunately as her change was happening, her and Liam broke up. But this didn't stop Miley, if anything encouraged her new star image further.

Here is Miley after cutting her hair off completely - this was a drastic change for her however for the first few months gained a good amount of publicity for herself and her career. Unfortunately it was around this time Liam broke off the engagement. Her song 'Wrecking Ball' was about her break up with Liam, which featured her swinging naked on a wrecking ball in the music video.

 

Miley's new star image, as you can see is much more revealing and has a huge contrast to how she was before - during her Hannah Montana stage.

Hi everyone! Here is my blog to post updates for my A2 Media Coursework for this year. My aim for this blog is to show how I am creating a music video to a well-known popular song and also the planning of how I am going to get from here to there. I will be posting regular updates about different aspects of the music industry, inspirations and multiple things which feature in stereotypical music videos.
