Point 7 - Things to consider

Things to consider within my music video:

 Lighting
The lighting within a video has a massive effect on the perception of the video. For example, darker lighting will most likely be in a slower, sad song however lighter and brighter(perhaps daylight) for a happier and more bubbly video.

 Lip Syncing
Lip-Syncing is plays very important part in music videos, particularly for our A2 course. In order to have an effective video, whoever is lip-syncing needs to know the song well enough to be able to really sell the song. From personal experience, what makes the lip-syncing better is when the actor is actually singing for the filming.

Black and White vs. Color
In happy and bubbly music videos there tends to be a lot of color. Pastel colors are very popular at the moment and help lighten the mood of the song, for example 'All about that base' and my chosen song 'The Fear'. If you are to use Black and White during a video like this it would commonly be used for the bridge of the song to build anticipation or bring the song down. Many slower and more dramatic songs have Black and White music videos. This helps the viewers to settle into the mood of the song. Some songs have some color and some black and white shots which can differentiate two different story lines within one video for example. The colors used in the music video tend to set the mood and reputation of the song.

Iconic looks
It is important to use familiar styles in our music videos. For example, Madonna has had many phases of her career to keep it interesting, however has had many people bringing their own adaptations of this since. Taking somebody's idea and making it your own is important and very effective.

Stop motion/animation
I most likely won't be using any stop motion or animation within my music video however it is an important thing to consider when planning how to make the video interesting and attractive to the eye.

Camera and Editing
The use of camera and editing is very important in music videos. How you edit a music video determines the mood of the song. Also, music videos which have been taken in one shot ('Hideaway') are also very effective, however need a huge amount of pre-planning. For my music video I will be sure to have a suitable yet effective costume for my actress, and most likely subtle make up with pastel colors to compliment the video.

Make-up and Costume
The effect which costume and make-up has, determines how the actors within the music video are perceived. For example - Katy Perry's costume in 'E.T' is very effective because it completely makes the video more effective. If she had been wearing jeans and a tshirt and sitting in a bar it wouldn't have been as effective - but it was very well planned and worked very well.

Typography
Having the lyrics on the screen for certain lines can be effective. 'All of the lights' is a good example of typography. Cannot be only lyrics, but certain lines can be effective.

Dance
Having a good dance routine in the video is very iconic and eye-catching. Movement to the beat is very popular among my audience research in point 14, and it is essential to make a good video. Dance is something I am hoping to include in my video and I think it will be very effective.

Intertextuality
Using other themes in video (Only girl in the world - Alice in wonderland)
